The UX II UV filter with improved water-repellent coating is an upgrade to the first generation HOYA UX filter. The UX II UV filter, which can be used on both film and digital cameras, absorbs ultraviolet rays that often make outdoor images appear unintentionally diffuse and indistinct.

The UV glass does this by absorbing the spectrum of UV rays responsible, making images appear clearer and sharper and reducing haze. This versatile filter is suitable for both color and black-and-white photography and also serves as an always-on lens protector.

The already very high quality coating of the HOYA UX filters has been enhanced for the new UX II series with an improved WR coating on both sides of the glass. Water can thus bead off immediately on contact with the glass without leaving any traces. In addition to this practical effect, the coating also prevents streaks and fingerprints. This reduces the frequency of cleaning and thus the risk of micro-scratches. Even stubborn dirt can be wiped off without much effort or is washed away by the rainwater that falls on it. This new 10x coating, which has been applied to both sides of the filter glass, also ensures reliable reflection suppression.

The glass is held in place by a new and very thin aluminum mount. Vignetting on wide-angle and super-wide-angle lenses can thus be avoided.
